When given this task, I decided to create a mind map on what Music magazines i am already aware of, what style of music I like, my target audience and what I imagine my overall feel to be of my front cover, contents page and double page spread.
Familiar Music Magazines
I found a similar theme running through the genres of magazines I am already familiar with being indie/new music. They include alot of reviews, interviews and gig coverage. Things I am interested in and therefore meaning I will find this genre magazine more enjoyable to produce. The typical conventions I will later analyse will be easier to stick to as I know what to expect and what will work, whereas if I were to produce a "hiphop" or "rock" magazine, I would find it harder to relate to the initial target audience and will be less succesful in my attempts.
Target audience
By initially looking at a general target audience, I have mainly described me as based on my research magazines being NME and Q they cover a wider range of audience but have a huge appeal to students and age range such as 16-24. To make mine more limited, I have "mindmapped" what I like to see in magazine and what would be interesting for specifically students, 16+ year olds who love new music and summer festivals! This also links in with my inital theme ideas being a summer issue with tips on festivals and travels.

Introduction to Media Alevel
This blog will be accompanying and evaluating the production of my A/S level media coursework when producing a music magazine. I have been asked to produce a front page, contents page and a double page spread which fit conventions of a music magazine. To do so i will need to thrully research and analyse professional covers and pages which are similar to the genre and type of audience i am planning to aim my product at.
